  1. Peel the pumpkin, cut it into chunks, and boil until very soft. Drain well and mash until smooth.
  2. Mix the warm pumpkin puree with salt, melted butter, and baking powder.
  3. Add the flour gradually and knead into a soft, smooth dough that is not sticky. Rest for 30 minutes.
  4. Roll the dough to about 5 mm thick and cut into rounds or triangles.
  5. Heat the oil to medium-high and fry the pieces until puffed and golden on both sides.
  6. Drain on paper towels and serve warm, plain or with pebre or chancaca syrup.
