  1. Combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt in a bowl; add warm milk and knead into a smooth dough.
  2. Add softened butter and continue kneading until the dough is elastic and glossy.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  4. Punch down the dough, divide into 8 equal pieces, and flatten each piece into a disc.
  5. Place a spoonful of red bean paste in the center of each disc, then gather the edges to seal and shape into a smooth bun.
  6. Place the buns on a parchment-lined tray, cover, and let them proof for 30 minutes.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (350 °F) for 15‑18 minutes until golden brown, then cool on a wire rack.
